Annual production of Rainbow trout semen in the Truchícola la Mucuy Experimental Field
Abstract
The supply of trout for human consumption in our country depends on the production of Rainbow trout fry, Oncorhynchus mykiss, which is why biological inputs are required such as semen and eggs from this type of bony fish. In general, the semen in these fish of the salmonid family is a milky white secretion, in some cases a little viscous, in which two fundamental components are distinguished, one is the cellular component, which is the sperm, and the other, a mucous liquid that serves as a vehicle for them, which is secreted by the testicles and sperm ducts, receiving the name Seminal Plasma (Blanco, 1995) or seminal fluid, there are other components in semen that will not be addressed in this moment.
