The UN General Assembly officially declared 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming (IYAF).

Abstract

In December 2011, the UN General Assembly officially declared 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming (IYAF). The Purpose according to FAO: to increase the visibility of family farming and small-scale agriculture, by focusing global attention on its important role in the fight for the eradication of hunger and poverty, food security and nutrition. Many must ask themselves: Why so much interest in Peasant Family Agriculture? and perhaps they will express: With this Agriculture we will not be able to meet the demands for food!
