Composition of amercan mint essential oil according to its geographical origin in the state of Yaracuy, Venezuela
Abstract
The annual weed species Hyptis suaveolens L., known in Yaracuy state as “mastranto”, is frequently used as a medicinal and aromatic plant. The leaves of this weed are used in the Cocorote municipality as medicine for skin infections, as a carminative, and the seeds for treating gastrointestinal disorders; while in the Sucre municipality it is used to repel clothes moths, on the other hand in the Bruzual municipality they use this plant to bathe and take care of their hair; in this similar way it is used in other municipalities of the Yaracuy state.
