Why is Agrometeorology important?

  • Adriana Cortez INIA-CENIAP Researcher. National Center for Agricultural Research.

Abstract

Agrometeorology studies the influence of weather and climate on agricultural productivity, livestock farming and forestry. This science deals with the mutual actions exerted between meteorological and hydrological factors, on the one hand, and agriculture in its broadest sense, on the other. It also establishes the demands of crops and animals on climatic conditions, so that its knowledge contributes to the development of agriculture, allowing the implementation of short, medium and long-term plans and strategies.
