Abstract

The life cycle of the Asiatic Citrus Psyllid, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), was evaluated on five host plants; Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing (lime), Citrus sinensis (orange), Citrus reticulata (tangerine), Citrus grandis (grapefruit) and Murraya paniculata (orange jasmine), under laboratory conditions to determine the duration of each of its phases of development on each host. The phase of egg and the nymphal stadia I, II, III, IV, and V were evaluated in bottles content gelatin substrate for host plant buds maintenance. Statistical differences between hosts were observed in the duration of egg, nymph II, nymph IV, nymph V and the whole cycle duration. The longer life cycle, from egg to nymph V corresponded to C. reticulata, with 18,8 ± 2,2 d and the smaller was obtained in C. grandis, with 13,6 ± 1,2 d.
