Effect of aqueous extracts of Pteridium aquilinum L. Kuhn var. Caudatum on the growth of plants of Solanum lycopersicum L.
Abstract
In order to evaluate the effects of aqueous extracts of Pteridum aquilinum L. Kuhn var caudatum (bracken fern) on growth of seedlings Solanum lycopersicum L. (tomatoes) plants of bracken fern were collected in infested fields located in the Aldea Mesa of Aura, of Táchira state. To obtain the aqueous extracts, the fronds were place and water boiling and environment temperature water. The experiment was established in a completely randomized design, the plants were obtained from seeds, sown in recipients of 25 ml of capacity, with sandy soil frank texture and applications every other day with aqueous extracts to the concentrations of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 40% m/v, compared with a treatment with distilled water (0%). Were harvested at the 26 days after of sowing, three plants of each treatment were used for determinations of dry matter and radical morphology. The results indicate that the accumulation of dry matter in leaf and roots in plants of S. lycopersicum L., decreased, with respect to treatment with destiled water, with increased the concentration of aqueous extracts. The most phytotoxic extracts were the obtained to temperature environment (26 °C), the concentrations of 20, 30 and 40% m/v totally inhibited the growth of the plants after 26 days of seeded. The root length was strongly affected.
